In Solingen, the drop forges were referred to as “Schlägereien” (hammer workshops). The children get to know the Gesenkschmiede Hendrichs (Drop Forge) and learn how the work processes splitting, forging, tempering and grinding are carried out. Then they can “forge” for themselves on the wooden drop hammer, re-enact the function of the forging dies (forging tools) or the cutting tools using original tools and modelling material or work on a scissor half with a file.
Duration: approx. 2 hours
Price: 40 € per group
After the standard guided tour it is possible to take advantage of other game options free of charge subject to pre-booking:
Races wearing clogs
Outdoor active game (only possible in dry weather)
Duration: approx. 30 Min.
Pupil rally
Independent discovery tour in small groups with many tasks and puzzles
Duration: approx. 30 Min.
