Museum for everyone

We want you to feel comfortable at the museum and ensure that your stay at the Peter-Behrens-Bau (Repository and Exhibition Building) is tailored to your requirements. The museum is arranged almost obstacle free and offers many options. Please also tell the museum staff if you require assistance.


For deaf persons and persons with hearing disabilities

On specific dates the LVR-Industriemuseum offers Sunday guided tours for deaf persons and persons with hearing disabilities. The tours last approximately 90 minutes. Please consult our event calendar for the current dates. The guided tours are translated into German sign language by a sign language interpreter. The sign language interpreter is paid by the Landschaftsverband Rheinland, the reduced entrance fee for severely disabled persons applies.

Deaf persons can, of course, book individual guided tours with a sign language interpreter at a time to suit them during the opening hours of the museum. These tours last approximately 60 minutes. We will organise the sign language interpreter for you. The cost of the sign language interpreter is paid by the LVR. Please inform us at least four weeks prior to the desired date by completing the booking form (PDF, 42 KB) .


For persons with a walking disability and wheelchair users

Parking spaces are available directly in front of the Peter-Behrens-Bau Repository and Exhibition Building). The museum entrance can be reached via a ramp.

The museum café and the temporary exhibition are on the ground floor. The permanent exhibition is accessible via a lift. No steps have to be negotiated during the tour.

Loan wheelchairs, mobile seats and a disabled toilet are available.


For visually impaired and blind persons

The museum premises and the building do not have a guide system for blind persons. It is therefore recommend that visually impaired and blind persons are accompanied. Assistance dogs are permitted.


For persons with cognitive impairments

All guided tours and programmes are adjusted to the needs of school classes and groups of persons with learning difficulties. They are carried out in simple, comprehensible language. The guided tours and programmes should be arranged at least two weeks prior to the planned date if possible.


Information and Booking

Persons who require assistance during their visit should inform kulturinfo rheinland accordingly. Special guided tours should be arranged at least one week in advance.
