The LVR-Industriemuseum offers guided tours especially for deaf persons and persons with hearing disabilities on specific Sundays. The guided tours last approximately 90 minutes. Please consult our event calendar for the current dates.

The guided tours are translated into German sign language by a sign language interpreter. The sign language interpreter is paid by the Landschaftsverband Rheinland, the reduced entrance fee for severely disabled persons is applicable.

Deaf persons can, of course, book individual guided tours with a sign language interpreter at a time to suit them during the opening hours of the museum. The guided tours last approximately 90 minutes. We will organise the sign language interpreter for you. The cost of the sign language interpreter is paid by the LVR. Please book at least four weeks prior to the desired date by completing the booking form (PDF, 42 KB) .

For persons with cognitive impairments

All guided tours and programmes can be adjusted to the needs of school classes and groups of persons with learning difficulties. They are carried out in simple comprehensible language. Some programmes are very activity–oriented and particularly suitable for persons with learning difficulties. The programmes should be arranged at least two weeks prior to the planned date if possible.

For visually impaired and blind persons

There is no blind guide system on the outdoor premises or in the buildings. We therefore recommend that you visit the museum accompanied. Assistance dogs are permitted.

As it is a historic, narrow forge with uneven clay floors it is difficult to negotiate when being guided.

For persons with a walking disability and wheelchair users

The Oelchenshammer can be reached directly by car. The ground on the premises consists of fine gravel which makes it difficult for persons with walking disabilities and wheelchair users to negotiate.

It takes approx. 6 minutes on foot from the bus stop “Madonna” (bus number 332 or 333) to the Oelchenshammer (Forging Hammer).

There is a disabled toilet.

The forge building has door thresholds and partially very uneven clay flooring.
