We, that is to say the “Freunde und Förderer des Industriemuseums Cromford e.V.” (Association of Friends), regard it as our task to support the LVR-Industriemuseum in the Textilfabrik Cromford (Textile Mill) through numerous activities and to keep the knowledge about early industrial development alive. We invest all our energy to do this, provide financial support and organise public-oriented events. The options extend from lectures by competent speakers from politics and society to excursions and visits to innovative companies. Firm elements are the park activities - “Picknick im Park wie zu Brügelmanns Zeiten” (Picnic in the Park as in the time of Brügelmann), the Jazz Matinee in front of the mansion and the discussions with well-known guests from the business and cultural sectors during the “Cromford-Gespräche” (Talk Rounds) which take place regularly.
A particular concern is to support the school partnerships between the museum and various schools. Project days, history study groups and workshops are the main focus of this and these give pupils the opportunity to familiarise themselves “from the inside” with the various facets of running a museum in addition to history, technology and social history.
Furthermore we maintain international contacts to similar industrial museums and continually extend these year by year.
We cordially invite you to participate in the events organised by the association and the museum and welcome you to the circle of committed friends and sponsors of the LVR-Industriemuseum Cromford.
