Since the second half of the 20th century, it has been impossible to imagine everyday life without plastics. Inseparably linked to industrial mass production, they accompany technical developments and open up unprecedented freedom of design for designers. Many plastic objects have become part of the collective memory and have found their way into museums. The exhibition is dedicated to various aspects of this material: from cheap substitute and mass product to high-tech component, design icon or ecological nuisance

Peter Behrens was a pioneer of modernity in Germany. To mark the 150th birthday of this prominent architect and pioneer of modern design the permanent exhibition presents architectural models, photographs of his buildings, household items from the Art Nouveau period, technical appliances for well-known companies such as AEG, Villeroy & Boch and many more.
