A fun birthday party for children and stress-free enjoyment for the parents – that is possible! With any of the the LVR-Industriemuseum options for children’s birthday parties. In and around the Peter-Behrens-Bau the child with a birthday can spend a fun afternoon with siblings and friends.
Following an introduction on the history of forging, participants learn how iron and steel are produced. Then they can take on the role of forger because the heat is on. In the museum’s outdoor forge visitors can themselves forge nails, knives or other objects under expert instruction. Each birthday guest can then take one self-made individual item home with them.
This programme is suitable for children from the age of seven years who are at least 120 cm tall. Sturdy shoes, long trousers and a long-sleeved top are important as work clothes.

In a workshop children and adolescents learn through play the work steps involved in designing jewellery. First the draft then the production of a prototype and finally the presentation - expert instruction is provided at all stages.
Historic originals from the exhibition and the LVR-Industriemuseum collection serve as inspiration.
